The Family’s First
Speaker: Sharanā Baker, Assistant Director for the Center of Inclusion & Advocacy at Loras College
Born and raised in Chicagoland, Sharanā Baker moved to Dubuque in 2015 and found herself living in a predominately white city. She began to notice a passion for minority and underrepresented populations. The struggles of the past and passion helped to guide her down the path of bringing this discussion to the forefront of our community. She attended Loras College and graduated with a degree in Psychology and Neuroscience and then Clarke University with a Masters in Social Work. She is the Assistant Director for the Center of Inclusion and Advocacy at Loras College and the Director of the First-Generation Scholars Program. Her daily work is centered around providing insight and passion-driven wisdom to the students and families seeking direction or life change.
