We see an opportunity to unite women from across the Midwest for authentic connection, genuine conversation, and an undeniably real community.
The Story of She Unites
Meet Nat Finley and Adele Herman, Co-Founders of She Unites. In the chaos of 2020, the universe brought these two creatives together in their professional work. Adele the writer and Nat the photographer. They became fast friends and artistic partners. By New Year’s Eve, they were brainstorming this little crazy project. Both being Dubuque transplants, they began to see the need for a new opportunity for women. With so many wonderful humans in the area, how do we meet each other? How do we find those authentic connections when we don’t know anyone and aren’t from here? Where are you going to find these people when you work from home, have a non-traditional job, or are a stay-at-home parent? In the midst of all these questions, She Unites was born.
Along the journey to what has become She Unites, our purpose has evolved beyond just connecting women in the community, but to educating and supporting women through this intentional group. We have the tough conversations to propel us forward. We find the space to listen intently and discover the stories that have brought us to this place today. And most importantly, we have an incredibly enjoyable time supporting the women who have come along with us in this great experiment.
Our Mission
Uniting women from across the Midwest to build a stronger community through engagement, genuine conversation, companionship, and supporting causes that matter.
Our Why
“To connect and educate so that we can grow collectively as women”
We start with our why. The why is the foundation of everything we do. It is our guidepost to the decisions we make and the actions we take. We spent a great deal of time discovering the SheUnites why.
Our why is about connection and education. It’s the root of what She Unites is all about. Within all that we do, our higher purpose is growth. Growth as women, as a community, and as a whole society.
Sounds like a lofty goal to be perfectly honest, but we are up to the challenge. Because in everything we do as an organization, our why keeps us in check and grounded.
