The Start of Emotional Intelligence

In this session, we will learn about how we can use our emotions to gain more insight, connection, and purpose.

We will explore the Six Seconds’ EQ-in-Action model to become smarter with our feelings.

Dr. Liza Johnson is the Director of Personal Empowerment and Assistant Director to the President at the University of Dubuque (UD). She created, directs, and teaches UD’s personal empowerment undergraduate course, which helps students develop the core skills necessary to be successful in making sustained and positive change with an emphasis on emotional intelligence competencies.

Dr. Johnson is the author of the emotional intelligence curriculum published by Six Seconds called Know. Choose. Give.: A practical guide for personal and professional success using the Six Seconds emotional intelligence framework. She is the founder of EQ Development Institute where she leads various trainings to a wide range of organizations. She led the Dubuque Community Schools, Dubuque Police, and the City of Dubuque on individualized organizational-wide implementation plans for emotional intelligence.

Her educational background includes a bachelor’s in psychology, master’s degrees in School Counseling and Organizational Management, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership.
